It’s time to rejoice as the government disburses cash to all eligible households.
Yes, I am talking about the GST Voucher scheme where a total of S$200 was paid out to 1.4 million citizens.
The money should have been received on 23 June and constitutes a special, one-off payment.
This group can look forward to another S$150 or S$300 (depending on your housing type) to be paid out by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Singapore consumer prices have risen 2.4% in May, notching up a seven-year high.
To be sure, part of the rise was due to a low base from last year’s pandemic outbreak.
However, it also demonstrates the country’s resilience amid tough times.
Putting some money into the pockets of 1.4 million citizens could provide a much needed boost as the Phase 3 movement restrictions are relaxed from 12 July.
